Boyd Plaza –In November, FTOM will feature the Main Street Jazz Fest! We will celebrate Columbia’s jazz scene, which is more vibrant than it has been in years. The night will be a throwback to the legendary jazz festival that ran from 1987 to 1997 on the corner of Main and Laurel. The First Thursday event will feature the music of Mark Rapp, Dick Goodwin, and many other local jazz stars. It will also serve as a remembrance for three of Columbia’s most respected and admired musicians who have recently passed away, Skipp Pearson, Robert Newton, and John Blackwell. Capture First Thursday on Main Competition!

Attention local photographers: We want to see First Thursday from your eyes. Take part in our first photography competition! To enter simply come to First Thursday on August 3 and take photographs. All formats are welcome, but the images must be submitted digitally. The photographer determines the subject matter and focus, but the images must be taken during the event. Send your submissions to firstthursdayphotocomp@gmail.com. Up to 3 submissions per applicant will be accepted. A panel of judges will review all submissions, and the winners will be displayed at the September First Thursday on Main event, with prizes being awarded to first, second, and third place. All skill levels are welcome to apply. See you there!
